DUPLO ROUNDS OFF LANDMARK YEAR WITH INVESTORS IN PEOPLE ACCOLADE




Duplo International has topped off what has been a fantastic year for the Surrey based business with the news that it has been awarded an extension of its Investor in People (IIP) accreditation. The award is the latest in a series of triumphs that started when the company moved into a purpose built HQ in the autumn last year.
 
IIP is widely regarded as the most effective business management and improvement schemes in existence. At its core is a framework of best practice that's outcome focused: it outlines what businesses need to achieve but never prescribes how. 26% of the UK workforce is employed by organisations that are Investors in People or working towards it.

Duplo has held IIP accreditation continuously since 2000 and Jane Doyle, Head of HR at Duplo explained why it is so important for the business, "IIP provides us with a means to benchmark ourselves amongst the best run organisations in the country. The most important resource a business has is its people. IIP shows us how to get the best out of this resource and ultimately helps us maintain our position as a leader in what is becoming an ever more competitive industry."

For Duplo, being 'competitive' means doing everything above and beyond the accepted norms. Jane pointed out that since moving into its new HQ the company has seen a dramatic reduction in its carbon emissions, saved thousands of litres of rainwater and has even provided the national grid with £12,000 of green electricity. Duplo has also been recognised as one of the UK's Best Companies to Work for and were widely commended for a week long customer service excellence week it held recently. Jane marks these alongside the IIP award as significant statements of the company's
approach to business and its people.
 
She concluded, "Ultimately all these initiatives are about fostering an environment where people are proud to work, feel a sense of empowerment and helps them be effective in their job. IIP does require a financial and more importantly a time commitment but we are reaping the rewards year after year."
