CURRIE’S INSTALLS UK’S FIRST DUPLO MINI SUCTION BOOKLET SYSTEM

Currie's Print Centre in West Lothian has become the first UK customer to install a Duplo Mini Suction collator system. Purchased from Well Finished, the system combines Duplo's new suction fed DSC-10/20 collator with the DBM-120 stapler folder giving a finishing line capable of up to 2,400 booklets per hour.

Established 36 years ago, Currie's Print Centre is a family owned company and is one of the area's longest running businesses. Under the leadership of Managing Director, Graeme Currie, it has expanded from a traditional litho printer to a full graphic design, litho and digital print service provider. Through careful planning, investment and prudent financial management Graeme has been able to grow the company through the recession, winning new contracts and even taking on new staff.

Currie's Print Centre focuses on the local area and has built up a substantial client base that includes some high profile national and international names. The company produces the football programmes for many local sides including Livingston. Until the investment in new Duplo equipment, Currie's was using a small friction collator and bookletmaker but as Graeme explains it just wasn't up to the job, "About 40% of our work these days is produced on the Bizhub and the little friction collator was just too slow and unreliable on glossy stocks. Even when it did feed; we'd get marking so we had to send a lot of bookletmaking work out".

Graeme first saw Duplo's technology at IPEX and realised it could solve their bookletmaking problems. He asked his local Duplo dealer, Well Finished, to source the product. "I knew I wanted to buy this system from Well Finished because their service has always been second to none. It's so important buying from someone you can trust".
Since installing the new Duplo system, Graeme has been delighted with the results, "almost overnight we were able to bring in about £5k-£10k worth of work that we were previously out-sourcing". Graeme continues "the system is significantly quicker than we had before so that we're now able to pitch for new contracts and look for more work to put on it!"

Angela Osborne, Dealer Manager at Duplo concluded, "I'm delighted Currie's are so pleased with their investment. The DSC-10/20 is the first Duplo suction collator to be made available via our dealer partners and the success of this story really justifies that decision. We have some fantastic dealers who are really in touch with their customers and we're delighted to have them championing our products."
